The Black Cat typeface was initially influenced from a short story "The Black Cat" by American writer Edgar Allan Poe.
While designing this typeface, I have imagined the black cat which appears in the story. My intention for this typeface was to give a very wicked and creepy voice. Trying to convey the grotesque and spooky atmosphere of the novel and the image of wicked black cat, the typeface turned out to be very bold and black with dangerous look with sharp serifs.
